It will be next month before one of the two men charged in the 2012 death of Jonathan Zak returns to London court.
William McDonald, 26, made a brief court appearance by video link from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre on Wednesday. His case was put over until August 2 to allow time for disclosure to be given to his defence lawyer from the Crown.
McDonald, who was charged in May with second degree murder in Zak's death, said only his name and birth date during the proceedings.
Zak, 29, was coming home after an evening with friends on May 31, 2012 when he was shot dead on a footpath near Boullee St. and Victoria St. Police believe he was the intended target of a robbery and did not know his killers.
Weeks after McDonald was charged in Zak's murder, a second man, 25-year-old Thomas Lako was also charged with manslaughter in connection to the case.
McDonald has been in custody since February when he was charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Emmanuel Awai, 26, who was found dead in an apartment at 135 Connaught Ave. last December. He is also charged in a parking lot shooting in the area of John St. and Richmond St. in April 2016. A man was critically injured in that incident but survived.
