Police Dog Gets His Man

OPP say their Canine Unit helped them track down a suspect at the Oneida of the Thames First Nation Wednesday.

Investigators say the Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team were both called in after a suspect allegedly stopped a vehicle on Elijah Rd. and took off on foot into a nearby woodlot.

Police say an officer with the Oneida of the Thames First Nation police service pulled the suspect vehicle over just before 4pm Wednesday. Once the vehicle stopped, the man allegedly ran off into the woods.

The man accused of running away from the vehicle was wanted in connection with two separate complaints of an erratic driver. Both complaints involved a dark blue or black SUV.

Officers are also investigating reports that the suspect vehicle was involved in a minor crash with another vehicle that caused minor damage, but no injuries.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the case and police say he will be facing numerous charges.
