Man Charged After Suspicious Fire

London police are alleging that a fire in east London on the weekend was the result of drug production gone wrong.

Officers searched a home on Strand St., near Oxford St. after fire crews doused a blaze there around 5:50pm on Sunday. A male resident of the home was taken to hospital with minor burns.

Police indicated the fire was being treated as suspicious shortly after the flames were extinguished and obtained a search warrant for the property.

Officers seized 250 g of marijuana shake soaking in butane, 1g of cannabis resin, and 24 butane canisters.

A 51-year-old London man faces charges including producing a Scheduled II substance and arson by negligence.

Damage from the fire is estimated at $60,000.
