The Labour Day long weekend, often thought of as the final hurrah of the summer, has arrived giving students and workers one last taste of freedom before they return to routine.
While most think of it as the last chance before the weather turns to head to the cottage, camp, or host a BBQ, Labour Day officially celebrates workers and the labour union movement. The London and District Labour Council will be holding its annual Labour Day Picnic at Thames Park on Ridout St. from noon to 4pm on Monday.
As with most statutory holidays, there are a number of closures to be aware of, below is a list of what’s open and closed in London on Monday.

Government offices (municipal, provincial, and federal) Canada Post (no mail delivery) Malls (including White Oaks Mall, Masonville Place, and Westmount Shopping Centre) Banks LCBO/Beer Stores Grocery stores Costco Wholesale London Public Library branches Most drug stores (Shoppers Drug Mart locations at 1224 Commissioners Rd.W., 510 Hamilton Rd. and in Sherwood Forest Mall at 1225 Wonderland Rd. N will be open from 10am-6pm)

Labatt Retail Store on Richmond St. – 11am-6pm Fanshawe Pioneer Village - 10am - 4:30pm Fanshawe Conservation Area (for campsite availability call 1-866-668-2267) Western Mustangs play Guelph at TD Waterhouse Stadium - 7pm City spray pads – 9am-9pm Movie theatres The LTC will be running on a Sunday schedule
