For one weekend in November, St. Thomas will become Canada's hockeytown.
It was announced Wednesday that St. Thomas has been selected as one of 24 communities across Canada that will be stops on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour. The event will take place the weekend of November 18 and 19 and will feature free outdoor hockey festivities. The weekend will culminate with an outdoor viewing party of an NHL broadcast on Sunday, with Ron McLean and Tara Slone hosting live on site from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.
“We are very pleased that the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour is coming to St. Thomas and that an amazing weekend is shaping up to showcase our community, including our love of hockey,” said St. Thomas Mayor Heather Jackson.
The weekend will also see a hockey tournament hosted by the St. Thomas Minor Hockey Association, as well as the Optimist Santa Claus Parade.
