A charge of assault with a weapon has been laid against a 22-year-old St. Thomas man after a cop was tasered with his own weapon.
St. Thomas police were called to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Monday night to help with a patient who police have called "unruly." While officers tried to restrain the man, he was able to get a hold of one of the officer's tasers. The man allegedly fired the electroshock weapon into an officer's thigh.
Following the incident the man was charged with disarming a police officer, assault with a weapon, and resisting arrest.
More charges were laid against the man after police say he resisted officers trying to transport him to court Tuesday morning.
