Fanshawe Prepares to Resume Classes

Staff and students at Fanshawe College are returning after a five-week strike.

After the Ontario legislature passed Sunday back-to-work legislation that directs 12,000 college faculty back to the classroom, faculty will return to work Monday and prepare to resume class on Tuesday.

It was the longest college strike in Ontario history, and with that the college has set up a contingency plan to complete the Fall 2017 term and begin the Winter 2018 semester.

Another week of fall classes has been scheduled so the college will break for the holidays on December 22. Fall classes will resume January 3, 2018 with the term ending January 16, according to the college's official website.  Dates for final exams and the completion of final projects will be passed along as soon as they are worked out.

All important dates on the academic calendar, such as the last day to drop classes without penalty, will be extended to a date announced later.

The winter term will begin on January 22 and end on April 27.

Information concerning the student support fund announced by Queen's Park will also be provided in the days ahead, the college says.

Fanshawe College has prepared a comprehensive information page concerning apprenticeships and internships, important dates, OSAP and other frequently-asked questions. For that page, click here.
