Lightning Stop the Edge 116-103

Kyle Johnson scored 31 points off the bench as the London Lightning beat the St. John's Edge 116-103 Sunday at Budweiser Gardens.

The Lightning overcome a loss last week to rival Windsor and improve to 3-5 on the season. They are currently fourth in the NBLC Central Division standings.

Garrett Williamson put up 22 points for the Lightning while Marcus Capers sank 18. Ryan Anderson picked up his first NBLC triple-double by scoring 14 points, rebounding 13 times and having 13 assists.

It was a game marked by big leads and big lead changes. St. John's took the early upper hand with a 34-21 lead after the first quarter. London struck back in the second quarter and led 54-48 at the half. The Lightning gave themselves a comfortable third quarter lead and held off a fourth-quarter challenge by the Edge to finish with a 13-point victory.

Carl English led all scorers with 26 points for the Edge. Grandy Glaze added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Alex Johnson and Charles Hinkle got 12 points each. Jarion Henry also had eight boards off the bench for St. John's.

The Lightning host the Niagara River Lions Friday night.
