2016 was the year of Olivia and Lucas.
Those were the most popular names for babies born in London in 2016, according to Ontario's Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.
The list of last year's most popular baby names was released Monday. In London, the top five girl's names were, in order, Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Ava, and Elle/Emily.
For boys, it was Lucas, Benjamin, William, Adam, and Owen.
The London list was similar to the list for Ontario. Province-wide, the top names for girls were Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Ava, and Sophia. The top names for boys were Benjamin, Liam, Noah, Ethan, and Lucas.
Olivia has been the most popular for baby girls in Ontario since 2008, but Benjamin is a new favourite. For a five-year stretch, Liam had been at the top for boy’s names — this time, it fell to second place.
