The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is looking for the hunter or hunters who not only shot a deer out of season, but left the pregnant animal's carcass in a ditch east of Aylmer.
Conservation officers with the Ministry were called about deer remains that were discovered on Beattie Rd. in Bayham on February 13. Officers investigating the tip found the body of a white-tailed deer that was carrying two fetuses.
Given the condition of the remains, officers believe the doe was shot from the roadway with a rifle one day before her remains were discovered.
As deer hunting season ended on December 31, conservation officers are looking to speak with the person who shot the animal.
The fine for hunting deer during the offseason is $400.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's tip line at 1-877-847-7667.
