Trafficked Teen Rescued At London Hotel

Human trafficking charges have been laid against an Ajax man after London police rescued a teenage girl from a local hotel.

Officers with the London Police Service Human Trafficking Unit removed the girl from a south-end hotel around 5am Monday. She was taken to a safe place, police said. A 22-year-old London man was arrested and charged with obtaining sexual services from a person under the age of 18.

The investigation led police to also arrest a 21-year-old Ajax man, who is charged with multiple offences including sexual assault, communicating with anyone for the purpose of obtaining for consideration the sexual services of a person under 18 years, trafficking in persons under 18 years by exercising control, financially benefiting from a trafficking person, recruiting a person under 18 to provide sexual services, and advertising another person’s sexual services.

The unidentified Ajax man was scheduled to appear in London court Wednesday.

Police are not releasing the names of the two men charged to protect the identity of the girl.

A dedicated human trafficking unit was formed by London police over a year ago to help combat the ongoing issue of human trafficking within the city.
