Police Warn Public After Shooting

London police are still searching for the suspect involved in a shooting in the Westmount area.

Detectives from the London Police Service Street Crime Unit are continuing to investigate an armed robbery that happened on Thursday in the parking lot of a public park in the area of Viscount and Wonderland Rd.

It has now been confirmed that multiple shots were fired when a man approached a young couple in a parked vehicle and tried to steal the car.

According to police, a man was shot twice and a woman was assaulted with a weapon.

Both victims' injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Police say the circumstances of the incident are very similar to a separate robbery attempt that occurred on February 11 in the Westmount Mall parking lot. A young couple was approached by a man who attempted to rob them of the vehicle. In this incident, police say one of the victims reported seeing the muzzle flash of a weapon being fired.

“We are quite concerned about these incidents and want to encourage people to be vigilant, be aware of your surroundings and be sure to report any suspicious activity in this area to police immediately,” says Sergeant Blair Harvey.

The suspect is described as a 6' Caucasian man.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com
