Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Train

A man is dead after being hit by a train in east London.

London police were called to the rail crossing on Clarke Rd. between Trafalgar St. and Gore Rd. where a 24-year-old man had been struck by an eastbound VIA train just before 4pm on Friday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"What I can tell you is that it happened about 300 metres west of the crossing," said Constable George Demopoulos. "There are stopped trains while the investigation continues, however, the stopped trains shouldn't be affecting any traffic."

The man's identity will not be released until his family has been notified.

No one on board the Toronto bound VIA train was hurt.
