A woman has been hospitalized after a trench collapsed on her in Tillsonburg Saturday.
Ontario Provincial Police in Oxford County say the incident occurred around 5pm.
The 35-year-old woman was repairing the foundation on her home in the east end of Tillsonburg when the trench gave way and collapsed on top of her.
OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk tells BlackburnNewsLondon.com that the woman was five feet below the ground and a large amount of broken clay put on additional weight and pinned her, making the rescue tricky.

The woman was freed around 9pm and taken to a local hospital with undetermined injuries.
Firefighters from Tillsonburg, Malahide Township and South West Oxford Township assisted the OPP and Oxford EMS with the rescue.
Sanchuk says the incident is a good reminder to make sure anyone who performs foundation work takes the proper precautions.
"It's better to have a professional do this kind of work, but if you choose to do it on your own, make sure the trench is properly braced," says Sanchuk.
The victim's name has not been released.
