St. Thomas Man Accused Of Assault

The party is over for a St. Thomas man accused of assault.

Police say they were called to a home in the area of Hincks St. and Mitchell St. shortly before 3am Saturday.

According to investigators, the trouble began when the intoxicated suspect struck a woman at the party. The suspect was asked to leave but returned a short time later.

Police say while the man was ordered off the property again, the suspect grabbed a piece of wood and hit a male party guest.

A second male chased the suspect away from the house. While running, police say the suspect came across a lawn rake, picked it up, and hit the second male in the ribs and head.

Neither male was seriously hurt, but one was treated on scene by EMS and released.

The 24-year-old suspect was located and arrested. During the investigation, police learned that he was on recognisance, with conditions that he abides by a curfew, not drink alcoholic beverages and not possess a weapon.

He has been charged with assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, and fail to comply with conditions of a recognisance.
