A worker at a Woodstock sandblasting company had to be airlifted to hospital in serious condition after becoming trapped in a piece of machinery Tuesday.
Emergency crews were called to the industrial accident involving a 43-year-old man at Oxford Metal Cleaning and Valve Repair on Houser's Lane just before 8am. Woodstock police officers who were first on scene immediately applied an emergency tourniquet to the man's injuries.
It took firefighters just under an hour to cut the man free from the machine. He was then airlifted to hospital.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
Oxford Metal Cleaning does thermal cleaning, shot blasting and valve repair on aging metal objects, according to its Facebook page.
