Human Smuggling Charges Laid Against London Man

A London man is charged with three counts of conspiracy to smuggle persons into the United States in connection with a cross-border investigation.

RCMP say the investigation started in September 2017 when they were contacted by members of the United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) about some people from Canada who were coming into the US illegally.

RCMP say as a result of their investigation, in partnership with HSI and the Canada Border Services Agency, they have charged a 27-year-old London man with three counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He is now scheduled to appear in court on July 20th to answer to the charges.

"The RCMP is committed to working with its partners in Canada and the United States by continuing to protect our borders while preventing and disrupting illegal migration including human smuggling," said RCMP Inspector Joe Czenze in a release.

Anyone with information regarding criminal activity is encouraged to contact their local police service, the RCMP at 1-800-387-0020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
