A four-day drug trafficking crackdown in downtown London saw seven people arrested and 24 charges laid.
London police launched the blitz last week in response to concerns from the community. Officers with the guns and drugs section and downtown community foot patrol unit zeroed in on those moving drugs in the core.
A total of 24 charges was laid against six men and one woman. One of the men was arrested three separate times during the blitz, including twice in one day.
Police seized 17.8 g of methamphetamine, 25 8 mg hydromorphine pills, seven 12mg hydromorphine pills, 0.3 grams of fentanyl, one 100mg morphine pill, nine 60mg morphine pills, three diazepam pills, two Ritalin pills, and $528.40 in cash.
“This project was developed to be responsive to concerns of street-level dealing and we are pleased with its success,” said Det. Supt. Bill Merrylees.
He added the blitz is part of an on-going effort by investigators to address drug crimes in the downtown.
