A 16-year-old is facing charges after a pellet gun was fired at a St. Thomas police officer at a local skate park.
The officer was investigating an unrelated matter at the Railway City Skate Park around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when a shot was fired. According to police, a pellet hit the ground next to where the officer was standing with another adult. It's believed the shot came from the nearby Joe Thornton Community Centre.
Two young people were arrested and a pellet gun and 10 grams of marijuana were seized by police.
A 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.
The teen was released back into his parent's custody on a promise to appear in court. The other youth was released unconditionally.
