Armed break-in at medical marijuana grow-op

Charges have been laid against four Toronto-area men following an armed robbery at a licensed medical marijuana growing operation in Norfolk County.

The OPP said they were contacted just before 10 p.m. Thursday by someone who reported that several unknown suspects allegedly armed with handguns had entered a home on Highway 3, near Delhi and restrained the people who were inside before stealing an undisclosed quantity of marijuana. The victims reported suffering minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Investigators said as police arrived at the scene, several suspects took off running and a black-coloured vehicle also sped away from the scene.

Members of the canine unit and the Tactics and Rescue Unit were able to track down four male suspects a while later and arrested them without incident, according to OPP.

Police had shut down Highway 3 between Schafer Side Road and Highway 59 for about eight hours overnight as officers searched for the outstanding suspects.

An 18-year-old man from North York, a 19-year-old man from Brampton, 23-year-old man from Toronto, and a 26-year-old man from Thornhill are charged with 11 offences including break and enter, robbery with a firearm, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
