Yurek gets new cabinet post

The MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London is switching portfolios as part of Premier Doug Ford's cabinet shuffle.

Jeff Yurek has been named the new Minister of Transportation. He had been Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry. John Yakabuski will replace Yurek in that post.

The cabinet shuffle comes in the wake of the resignation from cabinet of MPP Jim Wilson, who stepped down as Minister of Economic Development in order to address addiction issues.

Among the other changes announced Monday:

Todd Smith will be the new Minister of Economic Development.

Sylvia Jones has been appointed Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Michael Tibollo is the new Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Bill Walker has been named Minister of Government and Consumer Services.

Lorne Coe has been appointed to the post of Government Caucus Whip, while Doug Downey will be his deputy.
