A charge of careless driving has been laid against an 80-year-old woman, two months after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in St. Thomas.

According to St. Thomas police, a pickup truck was trying to make a left hand turn from St. George Street onto Curtis Street just after 8 a.m. on September 21 when it hit a man who was walking across the roadway.

The man suffered life-altering injuries, police said.

The charges against the elderly woman were announced on Friday.
