Drunk driving charge laid in fatal crash

Impaired driving charges have been laid against a 31-year-old woman in relation to a crash southwest of London earlier this month that claimed the life of a Munsee-Delaware woman.

Beulah Peters, 23, was walking when she was hit by a vehicle on Jubilee Road between Thomigo Road and Chippewa Road around 4 a.m. on December 2.

Peters died from her injuries a few hours after being rushed to hospital.

After nearly two weeks of investigation by Middlesex OPP and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service, charges were announced Friday in the deadly crash.

Kelly Jacobs, 31, of Moravian First Nation has been charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and impeding attempts to save a life.

Jacobs appear in London court on Thursday where she was released on bail with a future court date.
