Elderly man taken advantage of in Woodstock

Woodstock police are investigating after an elderly man was "manipulated" in to paying for vehicle repairs and gasoline.

Police said the elderly man was approached by a two men in a vehicle in the Peel Street and Burtch area, around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The male suspects are accused of taking advantage of the elderly man, who ended up paying for "fictitious vehicle repairs" and gas to fill up the vehicle.

Officers are hoping to identify the two men, who are both described as being in their early 20's. The first male suspect is described as being unshaven with black hair. He was wearing a blue suit, with a multi-coloured dress shirt, and brown dress shoes. The second suspect is also described as being unshaven. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white dress shirt, and a black vest.

The suspected vehicle the two men were driving is a black Pontiac Torrent SUV.

The Woodstock Police Service is looking to speak with any witnesses to the interaction between the elderly man and the two suspects. Tips can be made by calling 519-537-2323, and those who wish to stay anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 421-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
