Man charged in designer clothing theft

London police have arrested one man and are looking for another after $9,000 worth of designer clothing was snatched from a downtown business.

Police were called about a break and enter in progress at a business in the area of Richmond Street and Central Avenue around 8 a.m. on Boxing Day. The two men had taken off before police arrived, however, officers quickly found one riding away from the scene on a bicycle. He was arrested and roughly half of the high-end clothing that was reported stolen was recovered. A small amount of drugs was also found, police said.

A 38-year-old man is charged with breaking and entering and possession of a Schedule I substance. He is slated to appear in court Thursday in relation to the charges.

The second suspect is still on the run. He is described as approximately 6'0" tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information about this break-in is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
