Riptide drowns Lightning 107-98

The London Lightning's lack of late-game offence has cost them their third game in a row.

Kirk Williams Jr. came off the bench to lead the Lightning with 22 points in London's 107-98 loss to the Saint John Riptide Sunday afternoon at Budweiser Gardens. It's the third loss in the past four days for the Lightning.

The game had been relatively close throughout the first three periods, with the Lightning holding a one-point lead after the first quarter, then trailing by just one at halftime with the score 49-48 in favour of Saint John. The Riptide held a tiny 24-23 lead in the third quarter, but opened it up down the stretch. Despite London pulling to within a point with two minutes left in regulation, Saint John went on a offensive run to close the game out.

Maurice Bolden added 18 points for London, with Jaylen Babb-Harrison putting in 16. Xavier Moon collected a double-double with 15 points and a team-leading ten rebounds.

Frank Bartley led Saint John with 26 points, with T.J. Matson adding 24 off the bench, and Chris Early sinking 14. Jeremiah Mordi led the Riptide defensively with ten boards and put in 13 points of his own.

The Lightning next visit the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans on Thursday night.
