Two crashes cause morning slowdowns

London police are investigating two separate collisions that caused traffic delays for drivers during the Monday morning commute.

The first crash happened at Horton Street and Maitland Street around 8:20 a.m. when six vehicles collided. Two people were hurt in the multi-vehicle crash and had to be taken to hospital. It took three tow trucks to remove the wreckage before the area could be re-opened to traffic.

About 25 minutes later, a vehicle hit a pole on Wellington Road at Southdale Road. No one was hurt, but the northbound lanes of Wellington had to be closed for roughly an hour, causing significant backups on the main artery. The roadway was fully re-opened to traffic just before 2 p.m.

The cause of both collisions has yet to be determined.
