St. John's edges Lightning 109-100

Xavier Moon scored 33 points, but the London Lightning dropped one to the Edge 109-100 in St. John's Saturday.

It was the fourth loss in the last five games for London, who fall to 9-12 in the NBL Canada standings.

The Lightning got off to a good start in the first quarter, but the Edge stepped up in the second quarter to tie the game at 49-49 at halftime. A big third quarter pushed St. John's ahead as they outscored London 36-23. That lead would be plenty to seal the win for the Edge.

Garrett Williamson scored 20 points for the Lightning, while Maurice Bolden added 15 points and led the team defensively with ten rebounds.

Glen Davis led the Edge with 31 points. Junior Cadougan put up an additional 17 points and Maurice Jones Sr. added 16. Obinna Oleka had 24 rebounds, ten of them offensive, for St. John's.

The Lightning will have another shot at the Edge in St. John's Sunday afternoon.
