One man has been arrested and second is still on the run following a robbery and assault with a golf club at a Richmond Street apartment building.
A 58-year-old man had just left his friend's unit in the building when he was attacked by two men from an adjacent apartment around 8:45 p.m. on February 18, London police said. The pair allegedly demanded the man's wallet before hitting him in the face with a golf club and taking off.
The man suffered serious injuries, but has since been released from hospital.
A 31-year-old man was arrested in relation to the incident on Wednesday. He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a Schedule I substance.
Police continue to search for the second suspect. He is described as Caucasian, between 28-30 years of age, with short brown hair, a moustache and full beard. He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt.
“The seriousness of the injuries and the propensity for such violence is alarming and we are appealing for the public’s assistance, in hopes of identifying the outstanding assailant,” Det. Sgt. Ryan Scrivens said in a statement.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
