Suspect sought after officer dragged by stolen car

London police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who is accused of dragging an officer with a stolen vehicle.

According to police, around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle was stolen from a dealership on Wharncliffe Road South. Police located the vehicle in a parking lot on Wavell Street around 11:10 a.m.

"When officers approached the occupants, a female passenger fled on foot and a man reversed the vehicle into an unmarked police car," police said in a statement issued Wednesday. "The stolen vehicle then moved forward mounting a curb, sidewalk and lawn while dragging an officer. The officer was able to release himself before the vehicle fled the area."

The officer wasn't hurt and police arrested a woman nearby. But they are still looking for the man who is alleged to have been the driver of the stolen car.

Ronald Kyle Towle, 36, of London is wanted on charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, mischief under $5,000, obstructing a peace officer, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with recognizance.

If you have information in relation to the possible whereabouts of Towle, call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
