An assault charge has been laid against a 21-year-old St. Thomas man accused of hitting a toddler so hard it left a bruise.
St. Thomas police began investigating after being contacted by Family and Children’s Services on Sunday. The man is said to have been babysitting his common-law partner's two-year-old when he allegedly struck the child on the back side. The child was hit with such force it left a bruise, police said.
The man was arrested without incident and charged with assault.
He will appear in St. Thomas court in relation to the charge at a future date.
