911 hangups lead police to wanted woman

A pair of dropped calls to 911 led provincial police in Oxford County to a woman who was wanted in an unrelated matter.

According to Oxford OPP, someone called the emergency phone number twice around 10:40 p.m. last Friday, but hung up both times just as a dispatcher answered. When the dispatcher tried calling the number back it repeatedly went unanswered.

Police officers then went to the Ingersoll address where the call originated from and after determining there was no emergency, found a woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The 27-year-old London woman was taken into custody and turned over to the Woodstock Police Service without incident.
