Fanshawe College is expanding to the south end of London.
The college announced Wednesday that it is in the process of securing a lease for the former Westervelt College building at the corner of Wellington Road and Bradley Avenue.
"Continuing efforts to respond to labour market needs and limited space means the college requires new space," the college said in a statement. "After careful review and multiple site searches across London, Fanshawe found an ideal building to lease in south London."
Classes for 250 students will begin this fall at the new south London campus. It's expected that when renovations are complete, programming for up to 850 students will be introduced. The first students at the new campus will be in the Agri-Business Management, Business Management, Business and Information Systems Architecture and Residence Retirement Management programs.
“Fanshawe’s exceptional educational offerings and graduate employment rates continue to attract new students from across Ontario and around the globe,” Fanshawe President Peter Devlin said in the statement. “We’re pleased to be expanding our presence in this new south London campus.”
The building became available after Westervelt College merged with Medix College and moved to a building on Richmond Street between Horton Street and Bathurst Street.
