Man arrested in violent attack of London woman

A 37-year-old man wanted after a woman in the sex trade was tied up, assaulted, and tasered inside a London home last month has now been arrested.

Omar Oneil Williams was arrested Thursday "as a result of tips from the public," London police said. They are thanking the public for its help with the investigation.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Williams on Wednesday, more than two weeks after the violent April 15 attack inside a home on Wellington Street near Simcoe Street. The woman reported she was bound, tasered, assaulted, and robbed by a man she had met through an online advertisement. The woman's vehicle was stolen following the attack.

She suffered minor injuries but did not seek medical treatment, police said.

The incident prompted police to issue a warning to those who work in the sex trade to be extra careful.

Williams is charged with robbery, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault, and possession of a prohibited weapon. He is scheduled to appear in London court on Friday.
