A 46-year-old London man is facing charges after two police cruisers were rammed while trying to stop a vehicle in the east-end.
A man who was prohibited from driving was allegedly spotted behind the wheel of a black Pontiac G6 by a London police officer on routine patrol in the area of Dundas Street and Clarke Road around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday. The man also had outstanding warrants for his arrest, police said.
Officers had followed the Pontiac into a parking lot when it reversed at a "high rate of speed" crashing into two cruisers and causing extensive damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the collisions.
The male driver of the Pontiac allegedly ran from the car but was quickly arrested with the help of the police canine unit.
A 46-year-old man is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while prohibited and failing to comply with recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to these charges on Thursday.
