Firefighters battle south end structure fire

London fire officials are investigating after a blaze destroyed a house in London's south end.

Over 20 firefighters responded on Thursday shortly before 2:30 p.m. after the fire started at a house at 6127 Colonel Talbot Rd.  London Fire Department officials said the home was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived and firefighters were initially unable to enter the structure due to a lack of structural integrity.

Fire officials added that the home was vacant at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

Colonel Talbot Road was closed between Littlewood Drive and Decker Drive while firefighters battled the blaze.

A fire investigator has attended the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.  A damage estimate has not been provided at this time.
