Man facing charges after alleged hatchet threat

A 64-year-old man is facing several charges after allegedly threatening staff members at a Talbot Street establishment with a hatchet.

According to police, it happened Saturday around noon when they responded to a call from the establishment about an angry man who was threatening a staff member with a hatchet. The man fled before police arrived however, they were able to locate him a short distance away.

While arresting him, police located the hatchet in his possession. After further investigation police say the man was using the hatchet in a threatening manner while threatening the life of one of the workers.

He was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death and using a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
