A busy intersection in Lucan will soon undergo a major safety makeover.
Minister of Infrastructure Monte McNaughton and Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek announced on Monday the province will pick up the bulk of the tab to revamp the intersection of Richmond Street (Highway 4) and Saintsbury Line. The intersection overhaul will include road widening, the installation of a new traffic signal, and sidewalk improvements.
“Our government has listened to our community’s concerns. We’re taking action to create a safer community for our residents and families here in Lucan by making intersection improvements, including a new traffic signal for improved road and pedestrian safety,” McNaughton said in a statement.
The total cost of the road work is expected to be around $1 million. Lucan Biddulph and Middlesex County will cover all of the design-related costs and kick in $300,000 towards the construction, while the Ministry of Transportation will cover the remaining costs.
Construction is slated to begin next summer.
