Youth dies after crash involving cyclist

An 11-year-old cyclist has died after a crash Monday night just east of Aylmer.

Elgin County OPP said police were called to the scene on Carter Road just north of Highway 3 (Talbot Line) around 9:10 p.m.

Police said their investigation so far shows that a southbound vehicle and a cyclist collided there.

An 11-year-old youth was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but later died in the hospital.

Carter Road remains closed between Highway 3 and Glencolin Line as the OPP's technical collision investigators continue to examine the scene.

There is no word on whether charges are expected to be laid in connection with the incident.
