A London man is now charged with second degree murder after the man he is accused of stabbing died in hospital.
London police announced Tuesday that the second degree murder charge had been laid against Albert Joseph Zamora-Doxtator, 32, in the death of 33-year-old Steven William Douglas Burgess. Police said the two men were involved in an altercation at Jesse Davidson Park on Viscount Road on the evening of Tuesday, June 18. Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Burgess' injuries were considered life threatening and police said he died on Saturday, June 22. He is London's fifth homicide victim of 2019.
Initially, Zamora-Doxtator was charged with aggravated assault and was being held in custody after he was released from hospital.
"The weapon has not been located, and we continue to appeal to the public for information in relation to this incident," police said in a statement issued Tuesday.
