Police are looking for a suspect after a Norfolk County home was deliberately set on fire while the owner was asleep inside.
The Ontario Provincial Police said someone went to the home on Hastings Drive in Long Point and used an accelerant to light the outside wall of the house on fire shortly before 12:46 p.m. on Wednesday. The homeowner woke up and found the house on fire. He was able to get out and call 911 before extinguishing the flames on the outside wall with buckets of water.
Damage to the home is estimated at around $35,000 and the Office of the Fire Marshall has been notified.
The person responsible was caught on a surveillance camera and police are looking to identify the person. Officers are asking the public to look closely at the clothing the person is wearing. Pictures of the individual can be seen below.
