A 36-year-old St. Thomas man accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old four years ago is now facing charges.
The man turned himself in to police around 8 a.m. Thursday as a direct result of an ongoing investigation into the allegations, St. Thomas police said. He is now charged with one count each of sexual assault on a person under 16, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching with a person under 16.
While the incident took place in 2015, it was only recently reported to police.
The man's name has not been released.
He was released from police custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
