London police have two people in custody and are searching for a third after firearms were seized from a stolen SUV.
Police officers were called to the area of Pond Mills Road and Deveron Crescent around 9 a.m. Friday to check on the welfare of three people who appeared to be sleeping in an SUV. When officers arrived, the trio ran from the vehicle. The officers chased them and arrested a man and a woman. The canine unit was called to the scene and a police dog searched for the third suspect for about an hour. But because of the heat, London police asked for help from the St. Thomas police canine unit. After three hours, the third suspect still hadn't been found.
"The investigation revealed that the vehicle involved was reported stolen in Windsor in May of 2019," police said in a media release issued Friday afternoon. "Drugs and three loaded guns were recovered inside of the SUV."
The third suspect is described as a white male, about 5'9", with short, long scruffy hair. He was wearing a coral coloured tracksuit and had no shoes on.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, and we’re asking anyone with information in relation to this incident to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com
