Charges have now been laid against a London man accused of assaulting police during a traffic stop last week in Thames Centre.
Middlesex OPP attempted to stop a vehicle on Cromarty Drive around 9 a.m. last Tuesday, when the driver went into a private park to avoid officers. When police caught up to the driver, he allegedly began resisting arrest and assaulted an officer. Police then tried to restrain the man by using a taser, but weren't successful. The man continued to resist and eventually took off.
Three days later, police raided a London home and arrested a suspect.
A 35-year-old London man has since been charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while prohibited.
The man is in police custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
