London police took several people in custody after shots rang out in the east-end on Friday morning.
Police received calls about gunfire in the area of Elm Street and Pine Street just before 7 a.m. Officers in full tactical gear flooded the area, zeroing in on a house at 113 Elm St.
"The investigation has revealed that there, in fact, was gunshots," said Constable Tanya Alexander. "The house has been contained and the emergency response unit for the London police were on scene. The investigation is ongoing."
No injuries were reported.
Police would not confirm the exact number of people who were taken into custody. However, they announced Friday afternoon that all had been released unconditionally. Police also said the firearm had been found and that the case has been turned over to the Major Crime Section.
The house at the centre of the investigation is a triplex that neighbours say is home to approximately 16 people.
One neighbour, who asked not to be identified, said he wasn't surprised to see this type of activity on his street.
"It's bad here. The neighbourhood kids don't come out and play. We've always got people wandering around at all hours, screaming, searching through our cars. There are needles on the sidewalk - I get nervous," said the neighbour, who has lived on the street for 22 years.
He added that the gunfire has left many in the area shaken.
Elm Street was closed from Pine Street to Rosewood Avenue, but has since re-opened.
The Elm Street incident is not related to a nearby weapons investigation that led to a heavy police presence at an apartment complex on Gore Road near Montebello Drive around 5 a.m. on Friday.
