A man had to be rescued from the frigid waters of the Thames River Tuesday morning.
London firefighters were called to the area behind 850 Kipps Lane, east of Adelaide Street North at around 7:30 a.m. after a man was heard screaming for help from the water.
"We did not have too much difficulty finding the individual once we arrived," said Platoon Chief Gary Mosburger. "[Water rescues] can be very difficult depending on how fast the water is moving. In this case, we were able to make a very quick rescue with ropes and throw-bags in order to bring the individual to shore."
It is unclear how the man ended up in the water or how long he was there.
There are concerns the man may have hypothermia as temperatures were hovering around the freezing mark, said Mosburger.
The man, who was wrapped in blankets, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
