Knights fall to Otters 6-5 in shootout

The London Knights were narrowly defeated by the Erie Otters 6-5 in a shootout on Saturday.

Erie's Chad Yetman scored the first goal of the night 4:44 into the first period. Connor McMichael scored for the Knights.  Danial Singer scored for the Otters, followed by a power play goal from  Hayden Fowler.

Jonathan Gruden scored 3:09 into the second period for the Knights, which was followed quickly by a goal from Daniel D'Amato for the Otters. London's Antonio Stranges scored two back-to-back goals tying up the game at 4-4. Erie's Emmett Sproule scored 11:40 into the frame and McMichael scored his second goal of the game, putting the game at another tie at the end of the second period.

Both teams failed to score in the third period and during the overtime, forcing a shootout.

Chad Yetman scored the lone goal of the shootout, giving the win to the Otters.

London goalie Jordan Kooy saved 28 out of 33 shots on net.

The Knights will face off against the Niagara IceDogs at Budweiser Gardens on Sunday. Puck drops at 2 p.m.
