UPDATE: Middlesex Centre man killed in crash south of Exeter

A Middlesex Centre man has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash south of Exeter.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Tuesday at around 6:30 a.m., a tractor trailer that was travelling north on London Road (Highway 4) between Whalen Line and Mt. Carmel Drive when it collided with the rear end of a sedan that was also travelling north.

The driver of the sedan, 75-year-old James McIntyre of Middlesex Centre, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

The stretch of Highway 4 between Whalen Line and Mt. Carmel Drive was closed for several hours, but reopened around 1 p.m.
