A man who had climbed into a downtown dumpster to sleep is lucky to be alive after the contents of the bin were dumped into a garbage truck.
The dumpster at Richmond and York streets was emptied into the garbage truck around 7:30 a.m. on Monday. Fortunately, the man was spotted before the truck's garbage compactor was activated.
"The driver of the truck saw the man trying to climb out of the truck, and called for assistance," said London police Constable Sandasha Bough.
The man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The incident does not require any additional police investigation, said Bough.
