The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (URTCA) is urging caution around local waterways.
With heavy rain expected across southern Ontario Sunday through Monday, the conservation authority is encouraging residents to take caution around all local waterways. The Upper Thames River watershed is expected to see up to 20 mm of rain over the next 18 hours.
While the UTRCA states that no significant flooding is expected, river flows will remain higher than normal for several days, increasing the safety risk around rivers and streams throughout the watershed.
The conversation authority says"banks next to rivers and creeks are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from all watercourses."
UTRCA officials are monitoring the situation, and will report on any changing conditions if necessary.
